Saturday September 5th is Mad Hatter Day - the day Hewitson releases the extremely limited 2007 Mad Hatter McLaren Vale Shiraz.
From a single vineyard in Blewitt Springs and 21 months in new French barriques, this wine has breeding: evolutionary winemaking that's never locked into a formula. The Mad Hatter: from another great, old Hewitson vineyard that tells its tale.
"What I really love is the continuity of this vineyard's character coming through the different vintages. It is real, single-vineyard, terroir-based expression. As we have said before, this wine is all about breeding: subtle changes in vineyard management, harvest criteria and winemaking in an effort to make a better wine that consistently displays its origin.
