Tasting Notes

The 2011 Truffle Row was picked from fully mature vines: 92% Shiraz co-grown and co-fermented with equal portions of the white varieties Marsanne and Roussanne. After primary fermentation on skins for 3 weeks this wine finished fermentation and malolactic fermentation in French oak barriques of which a small percentage were new.

The 2011 vintage was one of the coolest years on record yet we just managed to get these grapes fully ripe. This is the paradox that enables great wine to be made.

The fine chalky tannins with equally expressive scents of spicy plum fruits and French oak harmoniously blend with the delicate stone fruit fragrance and minerality of the Marsanne and Roussanne. The aroma and flavour are intoxicating, while the wine finishes with a firm acidity and vibrancy ensuring a bright and long future.

This first vintage ever of Truffle Row is a perfect expression of vintage and vineyard that we believe describes great wine.
