Falkenberg Shiraz is our premier Shiraz cuvée. The grapes are carefully harvested and fermented then matured in French oak. The wine is incredibly powerful and showcases Barossa Valley Shiraz at its best. While accessible now this wine will reward careful cellaring.

‘Unctuous and velvet-like; layers of perfectly ripened spicy dark fruits and chocolatey oak.’
“A floral grace note of rose petal lends aromatic lift and an elegant profile to the firm, focused core of cherry and plum flavors. A savory mineral accent lingers on the fine and focused finish. Drink now through 2030.”

“A single vineyard, 90 year-old vines and the wine aged in French oak for 2 years, this is the foundation for Hewitson’s premier Shiraz. There’s an unmistakeable Barossa stamp – it’s richly flavoured with menthol, dark fruits, a velvety sensation to the ripe tannins- and it’s long. There’s detail here, yet it is still in the big, voluptuous category, and done well.”
"Very good red/purple colour, youthful. The bouquet seems more developed, soft and mellow, savoury, with full-bodied, mouthfilling flavour and ample soft tannins. Licorice, aniseed flavours. The finish is firm, dry and savoury."
"The spice cupboard meets the bakehouse with aromas of raspberry pastilles, ripe boysenberries and warm plum tarts….A dusting of nutmeg and roasted meats adds interest. Opulent palate with bucket-loads of red and black fruits, with chunky tannins providing a firm frame. Needs some air to show at its best."
‘Despite a similar barrel regime to the 2013, the 2014 Falkenberg Vineyard Private Cellar Shiraz seems less oaky, with more fruit spice and berry fruit than the 2013. Red berries and cherries pick up hints of peppery spice and vanilla on the long, silky finish. Not a huge blockbuster Barossa Shiraz, the 2014 Falkenberg is more about balance, elegance and class.’
