2026 Lulu Rosé

$40.00

This wine is aptly named for Dean Hewitson’s wife Louise, or LuLu as some of us affectionately call her. Making wine in Provence in 1995 and visiting the region many times since Dean has had the opportunity to witness first-hand the various techniques that are employed to make a beautiful rosé. This wine is classically made, using traditional Provençal varieties from our home in Barossa Valley.

Only enough fruit is picked each morning at dawn to fill the press once, ensuring we have just the right amount of skin contact to achieve the light salmon pink colour and flavour profile of a traditional rosé. This process is repeated over several days and the juice is cold settled and racked to old French oak for barrels fermentation after which it is cold settled again in tank and bottled. No preservatives are used in vineyard nor the wine making process; only a small amount at bottling to ensure a joyous life ahead.

Reviews

"Pale rose gold, and it smells like summer already. Lifted orchard fruit, then the glass opens up. Fresh, crisp and properly balanced. Lime and lemon sit with watermelon, strawberry, pear and a delicate musk. Real crunch through the middle. The fruit stays bright and bouncy, not soft or sugary. Then a savoury, textural finish gives it shape, so it is not just pretty fruit. Freshness, flavour and texture, all pulling the same way. 95 Points" - Russ Gallagher, Vino Masters
