"And now for something a little bit different. Dean Hewitson has nailed together his personal experience and enjoyment of southern Mediterranean whites with a variety common across the hemispheres, Muscat Blanc à Petit Grains, which has been a traditional Barossan for the region’s entire history. Here it also gets a small dollop of Sauvignon Blanc which tends to assist in the wine’s mouthfeel and freshening acidity. Not surprisingly the rest is all about its Muscat character traits – floral, grapey, freshly cut apple, lychee and a touch spicy, light and fresh with a genuinely unique fragrant flavour attraction. Embrace it. 93 Points” - Tony Love, Wine Pilot
"Pristine and elegantly expressed, the delicately fragrant bouquet showcases white flesh peach, crunchy apple, lemon peel, and floral nuances, leading to a finely textured palate that offers bright fruit flavours with beautifully pitched acidity, finishing lingering and refreshing. At its best: now to 2028. 92 Points” - Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
"Bottled in the new lighter containers – expect to see many more of these in coming years. The aim of this wine is to replicate the joy provided by a glass of refreshing vino, while relaxing by the Mediterranean. From the Adelaide region, this is 95% Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains and 5% Sauvignon Blanc. Estimates of the age of the Muscat vines is around 170 years. The wine comes in at a lowish, and more-ish, 11% alcohol. Pale straw, this has those alluring grapey aromas that are typical of good Muscat and this is textbook stuff. Throw in some exotic spicy notes, passionfruit, pineapple, lavender, Turkish Delight and musk. A wine of medium length, there is a clean, fresh finish. Attractive drinking now. 91 Points” - Ken Gargett, Wine Pilot
"A blend of Muscat à Petit Grains and Sauvignon Blanc. The Savvy B comes from the Adelaide Plains geographic indication, but the Muscat comes from Hewitson’s Old Fence Line Block in the Barossa, roughly 170 years in age. Fragrant and bright: mango, lychee, white chalk, white asparagus, passionfruit crème, lime sorbet, jalapeno pepper and a fresh mint kinda cleanliness. Perky and refreshing. Bittersweet lemon/lime citrus, soursob/oxalis grassiness and with a little tactile grip. The Muscat comes back around again with lychee juice through a dry tail. 91 Points” - Regan Drew, Wine Pilot
"An interesting blend of muscat a petit grains, and sauvignon blanc, along similar lines to the light aromatic wines of Spain on the Mediterranean coast. It’s fragrant and light-bodied with quite low alcohol. It’s designed as a fresh and lively current drinking wine that is ideal with those classic Mediterranean-style plates of nibbles. 90 Points” - Ray Jordan, Wine Pilot
"Fragrant with green apple, white flowers and freshly sliced pear, this elegant dry white, a blend of muscat blanc à petits grains (95%) and sauvignon blanc (5%), dances lightly across the tongue, refreshing and bright, with just a hint of textural richness. And with only 11% alcohol is easily the wine to tempt yourself with another glass. Easy and breezy. 90 Points” - Melissa Moore, Wine Pilot
"Take a bunch of muscat à petit grains grapes and add just 5% sauvignon blanc and watch – or rather, taste – the impact such a small amount of the herbaceous one can have. The power of sauvignon is matched to the delicate sweet florals of muscat and the result is a wine in perfect tune with Asian food or seafood. The scent is powerfully grassy and herbal with snow pea, honeysuckle florals, green apple and citrus. Previous releases of Madame M were more in the off-dry category, but this time round the flavours are drier, the acidity keener but the attractive herbal spiciness married to citrus and apple notes is still very much on show.” - Jeni Port, Wine Pilot
